Writer | Teacher | Editor

As an instructor and mentor, I have three intensive years of workshop facilitation experience and creative writing pedagogical experience and training. As a founding editor of UC Berkeley Extension's Ursa Minor, I grew my developmental editing skillset as lead Nonfiction Editor of the inaugural issue. As an Associate Editor for Colorado Review I continued learning proofreading and copyediting to the Chicago Manual of Style, and gained exclusive industry insight and experience at one of the nation's premier literary magazines. But the best part of all my training and know-how is getting to share it with writers just beginning their own journeys.

Community is everything to me. Creating and nourishing a strong community makes me a stronger artist-when one of us thrives, we all do. Guiding beginning writers as they navigate the writing life, sharpen their craft, and become the writers they're meant to be is essential to my own practice. I bring a deep well of craft knowledge and a careful eye-let's work together. I can't wait to read what you're working on.

Let's work together!

"Alice made the learning environment fun and relaxed, but also provided structure to make the classes productive. Her feedback and willingness to meet with us outside of class was not only incredibly helpful, but it offered an opportunity for growth and to connect with a really good mentor."

Taylor W.

"[Alice] was well qualified with loads of applicable and interesting instruction."

Celia A.

"Alice is a wonderful teacher! She was very kind and helpful while we discussed my writing and where I could improve. She knows a lot about creative writing and I'm happy I was able to have her."
